My Dear Brother,
As I have a few spare moments, I think that I coud not spend them more pleasantly than in writing to you. I have been here just two weeks and feel pretty well fixed for studying except that I am not very well and have not been for several days, but feel some better this morning. I feel perfectly home here and like it very well so far. We have about a hendred and ten students and as a general thing a very clever set; the most of whom room in the new building. I will mark my room on the envelop so that you can see exactly where I room. I see from the papers that you are to have a grand time in Charlotte at the fair. I would like to be

there very much, and will if I possibly can. I hope the proposed rail road from Charlotte to Statesville will be very convenient for me if I wish to do so, to go down to Charlotte almost every other Saturday. The road will be a great help to Davidson and also to the College Charlotte. How is sister getting along with her household. I hope that you have succeded in getting a cook. As it is getting near dinner time I must stop. Give my love to sister and Sallie and tell Sallie that I have one very kind friend here and I suppose that it must be on her account. I will not give his name as she can very easily guess without it. Write soon to your affectionate brother.
Robert,
P.S. Please excuse my great haste.
