Dear Uncle,

As I have a little leisure time this evening, I believe I shall embrace this opportunity of addressing you a brief letter.  If I am not laboring under a mistake, you were under promise to write me first, but as I have not heard anything from you since I left home, I am beginning to fear that you have forgotten it. I very much dislike the idea of commencing to write to any one with as scanty stock of news on hand as I now have.  But should fail to give you anything as interesting, I hope you will take the will for the deed.

I am, at present; in the enjoyment of very good health, which blessing I have been well favoured with since I came here I have had no sickness except a slight attack about a month ago which I continued only about three days.

The new college building which is being erected here made very slow progress during the winter on account of the weather being too inclement either for hauling rock or for making brick.  But since the weather has become a favourable they are making more rapid progress.  They have got some of the walls raised about ten feet from the foundation. I think that, if they can get brick made fast enough, it will make a considerable show by commencement.

I suppose you have had an account of the revival that was here recently – wherefore I suppose it is not necessary that I should enter into the details. But suffice it to say, that it is resulted in the hopeful conversion of about twenty five students. Dr. Lacy has made arrangements to have another communion on the first Sabbath in June for the purpose of affording an opportunity to all who wish to connect themselves with the Church.

Are you not coming up to commencement this year?  I think you ought to try to arrange your business so that you can come.  Dr. Thormoell of Columbia is expected here to deliver the baccalaureate address to the Senior class. I will now close with the hope of receiving a letter from you soon.

Yours truly

W.W. Robinson
