The Lake Norman State Park accomplishes a variety of goals: it satisfies the Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) requirements for Duke Energy’s overall development of Lake Norman, it provides citizens of the surrounding four counties with access to natural recreation, and it increases tourism to the area. The many uses of LNSP affect how it is perceived and calls into question the official reasoning behind its creation.
